2. New Classes Incoming: The Huntress and a Fully Ready Druid
3. Ascendancies and Build Diversity: The Road to 36 Specializations
Patch 0.2.0 marks the first major reset since PoE 2's early access debut, potentially redefining both game structure and economy. It’s also the first time GGG has committed to sweeping balance changes that accompany a new league, signaling large-scale shifts in how builds perform and evolve.
For players looking to get ahead, this is also a great opportunity to stock up on PoE 2 currency and prepare for a fresh start with the best gear and crafting resources.
The Huntress has been officially teased and is expected to bring nature-based gameplay—traps, quick attacks, and possibly new summon mechanics.
Although not officially confirmed, multiple segments of in-game footage show the Druid in a complete state—bear transformations, volcano eruption spells, lightning storms, and even a working summon system. These abilities are not only animated but are already used by some current in-game enemies.
From fire-based area damage to physical slams and summoning wolves for utility, the Druid is shaping up to be a Strength/Intelligence hybrid dream. If you're interested in seeing early footage of the Druid and related skills, you can watch the full video breakdown here.
Patch 0.2.0 may also introduce the third ascendancy for every base class, unlocking 36 total specializations (12 base classes × 3 ascendancies). These specializations could include:
A Lightning-based Blackguard Warrior
Elemental totem playstyles
Fire/beast hybrid Druid options
Additionally, brand-new support gems will be added to enhance these new archetypes. If you want to preview some of these support gems and class interactions, the video above showcases at least 7–9 teased abilities.
If you’re theorycrafting or preparing a fresh start, having enough currency for PoE 2 ensures you can jump straight into any ascendancy build you choose.
These two Heralds currently dominate most meta builds due to their clear speed and synergy. The video warns that 0.2.0 might tone them down significantly.
To balance the nerfs, GGG might shift attention to lesser-used skills like Herald of Ash and totem-based builds, giving rise to:
Fire-based volcano slam combos
Druid + Totem synergy
Warrior-Totem projectile builds
This reset is the ideal time for GGG to normalize boss fight pacing (targeting 2–3 minute battles) and remove "5-second boss kill" metas that currently plague the Arbiter and other encounters.
Several clips in the video show never-before-seen areas and bosses:
Beehoth-type monsters with skeletal back-spawns
Arena-like boss encounters and NPC dialogues
Bosses like Captain Hartling, not currently available in-game
These point towards Act 4 being far more developed than GGG has publicly confirmed. It may include:
New environments with a nature/spirit theme
New boss mechanics and quest arcs
Continuation of the Beast storyline beyond Act 3
GGG is putting heavy emphasis on the upcoming developer livestream, offering the Guillotine Finisher cosmetic via Twitch drops. Watching the stream will:
Unlock free in-game cosmetics
Reveal all skill changes and support gems
Show final confirmation of Druid, Huntress, and Ascendancy adjustments
⏰ Livestream Date: March 27th, 2025
